Eyesight is precious – protect it

There’s no price that can be put on our eyesight and, as an employer, we don’t need to labour the point to you when it comes to your legal responsibilities to staff employed in hazardous environments.

 

Suitable protection is a given and our collection features both regular and prescription eye wear from integrated side shields to contemporary wrap arounds. Whatever the requirement, you can be assured the result is designed for effective and safe working.

 

But, as with everything we do, the aim is always to offer a little more and ensure you have one less thing to worry about. So we’ll report back on your workers’ visual acuity, letting you know what they can and cannot see and ensuring you are aware of any discrepancies in required standards.

Under the Display Screen Equipment Regulations 1992 you have an obligation to provide a sight test and appropriate eyewear to any employees using a visual display unit. Additionally, employees working in hazardous environments are entitled to protective eyewear as described in the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992. It is also good practice to provide regular sight testing and eyewear to corporate drivers to ensure you are protected as an employer.

The College of Optometrists recommends that everyone over the age of 16 should have an eye test every two years, and more frequently if they have an eye problem.

Vouchers can either be purchased online, as and when you need them, or we can set up an account and we can provide you with a portal to embed into your intranet. Employees can then self-serve by making a voucher request online, or you may administer voucher requests yourself.

No there is no minimum quantity, vouchers can be ordered as required.

We will provide you with password protected access to a personalised EyecareHub, you will be able to run live 24/7 management reporting.

Your employees can choose any optician from our comprehensive list of opticians across the UK. These include David Clulow, John Lewis Opticians, and many independent practices. If there is a particular optician that you wish to use, and if they are not registered with us, please let us know and our Optical Liaison Team will invite them to join us.

The voucher is valid for 90 days and employees are prompted to use the vouchers.

Employees simply use the optician locator within the portal to search for a suitable optician locally. The opticians contact details, and any promotions are displayed to the patient.
